"Hikari No Suashi (Bare Feet of Light)".
An X fanfic by Minako. In fact, it's her
first X fic, so be kind to her! ^_-
Lyrics are from the song "Hikari
no suashi",
"Lodoss to Senki Eiryuu Kishiden"
TV Ending theme.
Performed by Chie Ishibashi.
[Tonight, Kakyou has tears in his eyes.
He has woken up from one of his many dreams,
his still-functioning heart in a hand -- literally.
More than a a dream, it's a memory -- a memory
of that 'special one' who would never be back]
hitori kiri
mori no ki no shita de
ryoute no bashi odoru
hora komorebi ni yureteru yume
(All alone
under the trees of the forest
I dance with extended hands
look, the dream that sways in sunlight
filtered through trees)
[He remembers still, how she taught him to dance
in one of their "dates". He now mentalyzes... he projects an image and
re-starts to dream.
It's himself, doing the same dancing steps, in
a green forest, trying to go with the rhythm she settled every time they
went there.]
shinwa no kaze fuite
kami ni yubi ni fureteku
(the winds of myth blow
touching my hair and my fingers)
[One step..., two steps..., three..., feet always
in the light spot. She did it so wonderfully, he can barely keep up with
her graceful demonstrations, as the blond tresses are kissed by a sweet-smelling
breeze coming from the flowers spread in the grass.
"Point loss if you step over the flowers!", she'd
say happilly while cutting some, to later make headbands for them both.
Her laughter poured in his ears. "Ah, Kakyou!
You look so good with the flowers on your head!!"
A sob marres the happy sounds.]
kanashii kotomo itai kotomo
hi no hikari ni kirameku no
tooi kuni he yuku watashi
taiyou mite te kureru no
(even in sadness, even in pain
the light of the sun shines
as I travel to far countries
the sun watches me)
[Hokuto. North Star.
Despite her name, she was the sun, she had always
been.
The light in his sad life that he'd always cherish.
But since nine years, his sun was no more.
He didn't really hate the Sakurazukamori for
cutting off with her life. He couldn't hate anybody in his own lifespan,
could he? It was what she chose to do, also, to die and save her brother
from the one who claimed him in body and soul.
Everything was hanging now in the shoulders of
two boys, the two Kamuis. One wielding the Majesty of Gods, the other hunting
it to death. Precisely, the second brought him to where he is now, under
the Diet Building, where no real sunlight would reach him]
mienai mo no
konna ni hikareru no ha dou shite?
shiranai basho
watashi wo yonde iru yume
(unseen things,
why are they so charming
unknown place,
the dream that is calling me.)
[The Dreamscape is his lair, his kingdom, since
childhood. His rich family didn't want him to be involved in the Earth's
battle and so, they locked him and guarded his prision.
Fools! That only activated his curiosity and
his chance to test his Dreamgazing skills. To escape, he started to dreamwalk.
While at it, he founds and lost her. And it became the window taking him
anywhere, everywhere, to see the Future and predict it.]
suashi ni atatakai
tane tachi mo mezameru no
(it is warm in bare feet
the seeds also awaken)
[So did she. The other one.
Twice they met, twice they bonded. She was losing
her heart to madness and he saved her too. The little bird went in her
own way after it, stumbing every minute, until the Hunter cut off her wings
in the cross of steel.
Kotori. Little bird.
A name associated to life, yet she's dead too.
He knew of it every time but even then, they befriended, and it wasn't
for anything.
Kakyou recalls her last message:]
yowai inochi tsuyoi kimochi
tori sae mo shitte iru no
(a weak life, a strong feeling
even the birds know it)
["Tell Kamui-chan and my brother...
I love them.
I love them forever
And the future... is not decided"]
donna toki mo utau dake de
sora made todo ki sou
(no mater what the feeling, just by singing
it seems to reach to the sky)
[Kotori's whispers. Hokuto's laughters.
Memories now, just memories.
What's now in the future is fight, death, loss.
He had seen it, so it will be.
Future can't be changed, he says.]
mizu kagami ni utsuru kumo ha senaka no
hane
hana no kaori mato uda kede
(the clouds reflected in a mirror of water
are wings on my back
wearing only the fragrance of flowers.)
[Suddenly, Kakyou feels like flying...
It's strange..., shouldn't he be seeing darkenss,
as it always have been?
Feathers are coming from everywhere as his vision
changes.
He lifts his eyes to glare at the sky, and sees
them.
Hokuto, Kotori, there they are! Their spirits,
winged angels inviting him to drift away in his place.
Hokuto flies down to him... and says the words
before settling her lips on his':]
dekakeru no
(I depart)
["Let's go.
We'll leave this place and go outside"]
kanashii kotomo itai kotomo
hi no hikari ni kirameku no
(even in sadness, even in pain
the light of the sun shines)
[Kakyou closes his eyes and lets his heart be
free.
It sweetly stops and nobody notices.
"Finally... the day has come", are his last words.
And he cuts the last bond tieing him to life.]
tooi kuni he yuku watashi
taiyou mite te kureru no
(as I travel to far countries
the sun watches me)
["Kakyou-san?!".
Nataku finds the body of Kakyou lying in a bed,
minutes later. The bioroid thinks that he's asleep and tries to wake him
up, but Fuuma stops it.
"You shouldn't disturb him", the Kamui of the
Dragons of the Earth says with unusual sweetness. "He's in happiness, don't
you see?".
Nataku glances innocently at its "daddy" and
goes away, missing the strange glance in Fuuma's eyes as he's already gone.]
