Hokuto's Men: Subaru and Seishirou

Both extremes of Hokuto's life were marked by those two men. One was her very image in the physical, but not in the soul; the other was her death-ringer and her brother's stronger influence. Practically it's impossible to talk about Hokuto, not menitoning the true main charas of the story: Subaru and Seishirou.

First, the closest one. Subaru, as you yet know, is not only her younger brother, but her twin.Obviously, the bond in between two persons sharing the same face and the same birthplace/birthday was a very strong one. Subaru and Hokuto were always together, no matter where they went, and took care of each other 24 hours per day. Subaru would more than once in a while be VERY embarrassed by his sister's crazy ideas, or Hokuto would be pissed by his cronic shyness, but all in all, they were inseparable.

As stated before in the TB summary, Hokuto and Subaru came to know the most famous vet in Tokyo: Seishirou Sakurazuka. Hokuto herself senses the VERY strong attraction in between those two and at first, she's happy to find someone who may help her to overcome the wall that has become Subaru's pink-coloured bubble.

But Hokuto was wrong. VERY wrong. She missed important clues, she closed her eyes to what led her to the truth about Sakurazuka-san. Tons of questions about Sei-chan (as she liked to call him, like he was a kitty or something) were unanswered. Wheenver they asked or insinuated, Seishirou would only smily slyly and murmur about a certain bet. And
she'd shut her trap or talk about other things. 

Just what was this 'bet' about?

They'd know in the worst of ways...

The 'bet' was sealed in front of the Pink Sakura of the Sakurazuka clan. Child Subaru accidentally witnessed how a highschooler killed a little girl for seeing what she shouldn't. But somehow, young Seishirou (the teenager) couldn't kill Subaru, and chose to bet with him. The price for losing would be Subaru's life. And the proofs were the pentagrams in Subaru's hands.

Hokuto felt guilty for it all, so she decides to make something. So, she dolls up with Subaru's shikifuku (ceremonial robes -- remember how he was dressed in the X movie?), and confronted Seishirou in that same place. There... she found her death.

Nine years pass. Subaru grows up in a handsome, but bittersweet (more bitter than sweet) young man, head of the Sumeragi clan, who has trained hard for years to confront Seishirou, under the guidance of Lady Sumeragi. He says that he cares for no one and that everythign can go to hell, as long as he still can go against Seishirou-san and punish him for what he has done. But when he finally finds Seishirou..., he merely says that he wans't changed really, and after beating him up a little, he leaves. 

Subaru is confused, but has no time to think. He's told that Kamui, the Chosen One, has fallen into cathatonia due to the loss of his beloved friend Kotori at the hands of her own brother Fuuma. Subaru is reminded of the circumstances of his sister's death, and decides to drop his nonchalant attitude and do something. With spells, he dives into Kamui's heart, and finds him to tell him to come back to the real life. Kamui accepts and "re-vives".

Since that day, Subaru and Kamui are close like no one else, and thorugh battles, they become strong and weak at the same time. This, up to a critical moment, when Fuuma comes and defeats Subaru, piercing his right eye as well. Kamui feels it more than he had lost his own right eye, for someone has been hurt again by his fault. Their bond becomes even stronger than ever. But you see..., Seishirou is ever present. 

After a message from Princess Hinoto (which we discover that it's her baddie side, born from her hidden wishes and repressions), Subaru goes to Rainbow Bridge, while Kamui and CIA (Arashi, Sora, Yuzuriha - who are now his roommates and classmates) are in Yasukuni shrine. When they're there, waiting for something to happen, the Rainbow Bridge is blown up, and Kamui yells: "SUBARU!!!!".

What happened? Subaru found Seishirou there and got ready to fight him. We see there new tricks from both of them, specially Subaru. In one moment, Subaru's bandage covering his eyes unwraps and we see him with one only seeing eye... just like Seishirou. This one asks (after removing hsi dark glasses) if Subaru's wish is really to kill him. Subaru says no. And the Bridge is blown up.

When Arashi and Kamui arrive, they see.... that Subaru's kekkai dissolves. In the middle of what remains, Subaru is still in his feet..., with his hand going through Seishirou's body. Subaru has won, exactly in the same way that Seishirou defeated Hokuto years ago. Subaru sobs that he wanted to die at Seishirou's hands, so that he forgot the Sakura affair that marked him.

Seishirou, however, still has something to say. He pulls Subaru closer and says: "I... you...", but he can't end, and dies in Subaru's arms. In front of Kamui and Arashi, Subaru cries for the definitive loss of his one true love, Seishirou's lifeless body in his trembling arms. 

The ring has been closed. The last remaining stand. Everything's over for the Pink Sakura Guardian..., but can we be happy of how did it end?
